Soma Christine Aloia, MS, a master’s level dietitian, art therapist, and body-centered counselor, is the founder of Thyroid Health Coach and Source Medicine Healing – a transformative health, energy medicine, and clinical practice that works with individuals and groups in the spirit of healing, personal transformation, and empowerment. Soma is interested in both clinical work and creative expression in which the nature of the individual is addressed directly and holistically so that change may be effective and long-lasting.
A native of the east coast, Soma earned degrees in biology and nutrition from Boston College and Boston University. She completed her training in body-centered counseling and somatic therapies in 1996 after certification in the healing arts. Educating and helping people become empowered is one of Ms. Aloia’s primary passions. She is a holistic dietitian and is on staff at Santa Barbara City College. Soma is also a licensed massage therapist and Reiki practitioner, and has been fully-trained and specializes in Craniosacral therapy, a highly effective modality for re-patterning (balancing) the spine and nervous system through a combination of non-force adjustments and energy medicine. Soma also leads individuals and groups in the creative process, using art, yoga, dance, and expression as a means to unlocking their authentic voice, an important component in healing thyroid and metabolic issues. She holds a teacher certification as an art medicine healer.
“After healing myself from misdiagnosed thyroid disease and a brain injury using progressive and holistic medical practices, as well as craniosacral therapy, yoga, meditation and nutrition, I began to offer protocols that treat issues such as thyroid, mood, and depression naturally. This led to a full-fledged specialty practice and the founding of Thyroid Health Coach. I view the healing process as a dynamic and creative one, and as a means to living in the moment—where limitations are unlearned, and where illness and grief are gently healed from the inside. I am stimulated by learning, new ideas, and bringing them into everyday living so I can share them with others. Currently I am in training to become a licensed psychotherapist.
My own path includes things that inspire my body and soul, which involves making art, talking with people, dancing, swimming, yoga, enjoying nature and animals, writing, and psychological work. I believe that we are all unique with individual paths, and that everyone deserves to have a coach to companion them based on their unique lifestyle, symptoms, and habits. One of my natural abilities is to empower us to awaken to our truth and to live an authentic and healthy life.
Health-related things I am enthusiastic about include organic fresh foods, high quality supplements, bio-identical hormones and medicinals, along with exercise, fresh air, purified local water, and local honey. I also advocate rest and meditation, as well as positive incentives and role models for a healthy home and psychological environment. I believe that my perspective and expertise address healing strategies that connect us with our wellness from the source …. so that we can live vibrantly and contribute to the wellness of our families, friends, and communities. I would be honored to work with you.”
